Sanitation Operations Manager

Alphia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sanitation Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our sanitation and food safety programs, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Sanitation Program Management
- Develop and update sanitation policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GMPs and regulatory requirements.
- Administer the plant's Master Sanitation Schedule, ensuring that all sanitation tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide direction to crew members during scheduled and unscheduled downtime, prioritizing sanitation tasks that must be performed while the plant is not in production.
- Food Safety Plan Management
- Manage the site Food Safety Plan, including product description, flow diagram, process hazard analysis, verification activities, documentation, training, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the FSQA Manager to ensure that all food safety protocols are in place and being followed.
- Good Manufacturing Practice Compliance
- Participate in site self-inspection activities and escalate deficiencies to the Site QA Manager and Site Director through corrective and preventative action plans.
- Oversee and improve hygiene zoning, tool and container policies, color coding, and personal hygiene programs.
- Foreign Material Prevention Management
- Oversee the site foreign material prevention program, including monitoring, documentation, and training around magnets, screeners, metal detectors, and X-Rays.
- Pest Control Program Management
- Inspect for, recognize, report, and correct conditions or presence of stored product pests - insects, rodents, and birds.
- Oversee and manage the performance of the 3rd party Pest Control Operator (PCO), review pest activity trends, take appropriate corrective actions, and coordinate pesticide mitigation activities.
- Food Defense Program Management
- Oversee the site Food Defense Program, including documentation, training, and improvements.
- Environmental Monitoring
- Manage the plant Environmental Monitoring Program by collecting environmental swabs, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for any out-of-specification results.
- Staffing
- Form, develop, and coach a Food Safety/Sanitation Team, including full-time and temporary employees.
- Manage daily employee activities, such as timekeeping, vacation, overtime, and employee attendance policies.
- Provide performance feedback to employees regularly through performance reviews.
- B.A. or B.S. degree in food science, chemistry, engineering, or related science - Preferred
- Minimum of three years in human food manufacturing facility, preferred; pet food manufacturing preferred; and/or
- Minimum of three years of experience in Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, or related technical experience; and/or
- Minimum of three years of experience in supervising, training, hiring, and developing of personnel; and/or
- Minimum of three years of experience in leading Quality Systems at a manufacturing site, contractor, or supplier
- Ability to build and lead effective teams to solve problems, make decisions, and take action within the organization
- Solid analytical skills
- Advanced technical knowledge, communication, and people skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
- Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner
- Requires working a minimum of 45 hours/week, be available 24/7 via phone
