In the Laborer II position, you will assist our wireline team in the deployment of fiber optic cables for various telecommunication initiatives. This role is perfect for someone eager to advance their career in the utility construction field. We will equip you with all necessary tools, training, and support to master the trade and unlock extensive growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit your mid-level laborer capabilities by executing various tasks such as hand digging, establishing traffic control, operating entry-level machinery, placing fiber, loading materials, and more on safety-sensitive utility construction sites.
- Show your expertise in utility print and map interpretation, ensuring precise and efficient project execution.
- Leverage your experience in operating diverse equipment (including directional drills, mini, plow, hydro, etc.) to contribute to project success while complying with safety regulations.
- Assist in the setup and shutdown of utility construction projects, including traffic control, in varied environments, whether on highways, side streets, parking lots, or busy urban areas.
- Prioritize safety by consistently adhering to required safety practices while performing your duties.
- Engage in a learning environment, training alongside seasoned construction teams to gain proficiency in fiber installation, print reading, equipment operation, OSHA standards, and more.
- Play a vital role in the team by loading and unloading materials and equipment from vehicles at construction yards and job sites.
- Embrace leadership responsibilities as the right hand to the Foreman, leading by example, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and guiding others on the job site.
- Participate in on-the-job training to become a skilled operator and eventually progress into a Foreman position, further enhancing your career trajectory.
- Proactively identify hazards through the pre-task process, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
- Be prepared to assist with other duties as needed, demonstrating your versatility and commitment to the team's success.

You'll work in a dynamic setting that may require physical adaptability, including sitting, squatting, standing, walking, and climbing. While on-site, you may encounter various sounds or noise levels and experience different weather conditions, from hot and humid to cold and snowy. Your safety is paramount, and you will be required to wear standard protective safety gear, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.
To qualify for this opportunity, we require a minimum of 1 year of utility construction experience and at least 6 months of heavy equipment operation, including Hydro, Drill, Mini, and Plow. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential, and a CDL License (or the ability to obtain one) is also required.
