As a comprehensive provider of technology infrastructure solutions, encompassing Wireline, Wireless, Technology, and Engineering, we have established enduring partnerships with commercial clients, service providers, and government entities. Our dedication to the safety and professional growth of our team members is central to our mission and values.
In the position of Dirt Drill Operator, you will assist our team in the deployment of fiber optic cables for a variety of telecommunication projects. This role is perfect for individuals eager to advance their careers in the utility construction field. We will equip you with all necessary tools, training, and support to master the trade and unlock extensive growth opportunities.
This position offers a starting pay of $29 per hour, contingent upon experience and skill level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your mid-level laborer skills by performing tasks such as hand digging, establishing traffic control, operating entry-level machinery, placing fiber, and loading materials on safety-sensitive utility construction sites.
- Exhibit your capability in reading utility prints and maps to ensure precise and efficient project execution.
- Employ your experience in operating various equipment (including directional drills, mini excavators, plows, etc.) to contribute to project success while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist in the setup and shutdown of utility construction projects, including traffic management, in various environments, whether on highways, side streets, parking lots, or busy urban areas.
- Prioritize safety by consistently following required safety practices while performing your duties.
- Engage in a learning environment, training alongside seasoned construction crews to gain expertise in fiber installation, print reading, equipment operation, OSHA regulations, and more.
- Play a crucial role in the team by loading and unloading materials and equipment from vehicles at construction sites.
- Embrace leadership responsibilities as the right hand to the Foreman, leading by example, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing guidance to others on-site.
- Participate in on-the-job training to become an experienced operator and potentially progress into a Foreman role, further enhancing your career trajectory.
- Proactively identify hazards using the pre-task process to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Be prepared to assist with other duties as needed, demonstrating your versatility and commitment to the team's success.
Alongside these exciting responsibilities, we offer a supportive and inclusive work environment where your growth is prioritized. You will have the chance to travel nationwide, refining your skills and expanding your professional network. We firmly uphold the ZERO mindset, where being safe 100% of the time is the expectation.
Your work environment may require physical flexibility, including sitting, squatting, standing, walking, and climbing. While on-site, you may encounter various noise levels and weather conditions, from hot and humid to cold and snowy. Your safety is our top priority, and you will be required to wear standard protective safety gear, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.
To qualify for this opportunity, we require a minimum of 1 year of utility construction experience and at least 6 months of heavy equipment operation experience, including Hydro, Drill, Mini, and Plow. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary, and a CDL License (or the ability to obtain one) is also required.
