In the position of Dirt Drill Operator, you will assist our wireline team in the deployment of fiber optic cables for various telecommunication initiatives. This role is perfect for someone eager to advance their career in the utility construction field. This position offers a starting pay of $29 per hour, contingent upon experience and skill level.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Exhibiting your mid-level laborer skills by executing various tasks such as hand digging, establishing traffic control, operating entry-level machinery, placing fiber, loading materials, and more on safety-sensitive utility construction sites.
  • Demonstrating your expertise in utility print and map interpretation to ensure precise and effective project execution.
  • Utilizing your experience in operating various equipment (such as directional drills, mini excavators, plows, etc.) to contribute to project success while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assisting in the setup and shutdown of utility construction projects, including traffic control, in diverse environments, whether on highways, side streets, parking lots, or busy urban areas.
  • Prioritizing safety by consistently following required safety practices while performing your duties.
  • Engaging in a learning environment, training alongside seasoned construction teams to gain expertise in fiber installation, print reading, equipment operation, OSHA standards, and more.
  • Being an essential part of the team by loading and unloading materials and equipment from vehicles at construction yards and job sites.
  • Taking on leadership responsibilities as the right hand to the Foreman, leading by example, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing guidance to colleagues on the job site.
  • Participating in on-the-job training to evolve into an experienced operator and eventually advance to a Foreman role, further enhancing your career trajectory.
  • Proactively identifying hazards through the pre-task process to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Being prepared to assist with other duties as needed, showcasing your versatility and commitment to the team's success.

Your work environment may require physical flexibility, including sitting, squatting, standing, walking, and climbing. Your safety is our utmost concern, and you will be required to wear standard protective safety equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots.

To qualify for this opportunity, we require a minimum of 1 year of utility construction experience and at least 6 months of heavy equipment operation experience, including Hydro, Drill, Mini, and Plow. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary, and a CDL License (or the ability to obtain one) is also required.

This position starts at $24 per hour, based on experience and skill level.
