Cytotechnologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at the County of San Bernardino, CA. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the preliminary evaluation of exfoliative and fine needle aspiration (FNA) cellular material to detect the presence or absence of cancer cells, infections, and other morphologic cell changes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform procedures related to the preliminary evaluation of exfoliative and FNA cellular material
  • Write microscopic descriptions of findings and provide a cytologic assessment using standard terminology
  • Process specimens from all body sites and prepare slides
  • Instruct assistants in the processing of cytology specimens
  • Identify and resolve cytology processing/staining problems and maintain quality assurance, quality control, and statistical records for the department
Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a current Cytotechnologist License issued by the State of California Department of Health Services
  • One (1) year of full-time work experience as a licensed Cytotechnologist
  • Pass a background investigation, physical, and verification of employment history and education
