Job Summary

Amtec Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Management: Select qualified suppliers and manufacturers and develop new supply sources of high dollar value, long lead time, critically needed parts, equipment, materials, or service.
  • Material Planning: Perform material planning duties related to assigned commodity including lead-time maintenance, analyzing material requirements, asset management, and other associated activities.
  • Concurrent Engineering: Support concurrent engineering efforts by selecting suppliers to participate in development activities aimed at obtaining cost-effective, producible, reliable decisions.
  • Negotiation and Contract Administration: Solicit and evaluate proposals/quotations from suppliers and negotiate prices and terms to achieve optimum results for the company. Prepare and conduct market surveys and bidder conferences to gather or provide information necessary to select subcontractors. Assemble pre-award documentation required for anticipated subcontracts.
  • Contract Negotiation: Develop company negotiation strategies based on an evaluation of cost and pricing data. Conduct fact-finding investigations. Negotiate long-term contract agreements with key suppliers to obtain effective prices, terms, products, and services.
  • Contract Administration: Plan and conduct major contract negotiations. Prepare subcontracts, statement of work, supplier data requirement lists, contractual documents, and amendments as required to comply with contract specifications.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Conduct supplier site visits and evaluate them as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria. May support or lead supplier certification surveys as part of a technical and/or quality team.
  • Purchase Order Processing: Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers. May include orders with international suppliers and/or subcontractors involving import/export trade.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply and may lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of internal systems and processes within the division. Develop, coordinate, and implement improvement initiatives with key suppliers. Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
  • Subcontract Administration: Administer subcontracts by interpreting and implementing the terms, conditions, and/or provisions of the purchasing agreements. Develop and administer all reporting procedures with subcontractors on rates of expenditure and analyze such expenditures against allowed budgeted amounts.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing trade publications, establishing networks, and/or participating in professional associations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Comply with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations; ensure adherence to requirements and advise management on needed actions. Comply with Government/Commercial Practices Manual (GPM/CPM) policies and procedures.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Act as consultant to management on major matters. Establish goals and objectives required to complete projects. Identify mentoring needs. Train and mentor less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in department or to ad-hoc teams. May serve as functional expert.
  • Team Collaboration: Share specialized knowledge with others. Represent company on specific projects. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g., continuous improvement).
Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration or related field (e.g., finance, law/contract law; program management), and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through eight or more years of increasingly responsible experience in contract administration or procurement. Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or Contracts Management desired.
