Retail Project Manager

We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to join a reputable and expanding retail fit-out contractor. The Project Manager will oversee all facets of the projects assigned to them, including scheduling, procurement, stakeholder engagement, cost oversight, risk assessment, and enforcing health and safety regulations on-site. Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager is primarily accountable for ensuring the successful delivery of the assigned project on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations. Furthermore, the Project Manager is tasked with fostering a positive experience for all team members involved in the project while reporting to the Project Director.

The specific responsibilities include:

  • Extracting and interpreting information from construction drawings.
  • Creating and executing the project schedule.
  • Engaging Sub-Contractors as directed by the Project Director and Estimator.
  • Overseeing the procurement process for the project and site labor.
  • Conducting pre-start meetings and weekly site updates.
  • Ensuring compliance with current Building Regulations in collaboration with the Site Manager.
  • Managing and reporting on all project costs, variations, and performance against the budget.
  • Overseeing site Health & Safety in accordance with current regulations and company policies, including conducting weekly site inspections and reporting to management.
  • Providing updates on all project aspects to the Managing Director during weekly progress meetings.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Reviewing Site Managers' weekly progress and status reports, collaborating with other Department Heads to address any delays or issues.
  • Managing risk and contingency planning; reporting as necessary.
  • Collaborating with the Technical and Design Departments to explore cost-effective construction methods during both design and construction phases.

Qualities and Experience

Essential:

  • 3-5 years of experience in retail fit-out.
  • A natural and engaging management and communication style.
  • Ability to cultivate trusting, sustainable relationships both internally and externally.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Projects, and Excel).
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience in managing construction schedules.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Capability to establish and promote a team culture within the assigned project.
  • Commitment to excellence and success.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation to minimize risks through the development of safe operating processes.
  • Ability to plan, make decisions, and take accountability for those decisions, ensuring teams deliver on their commitments.
  • Capacity to work effectively without close supervision.
  • A professional, proactive, friendly, and adaptable approach to work.
  • Confidence in managing multiple tasks, using initiative and judgment to ensure successful completion.
