Position Summary

The IT Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering technical assistance to the organization, focusing on client computing, application support, server upkeep, database management, business continuity, and project oversight. This role reports directly to the IT Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve user computer issues as they arise.
  • Install, maintain, and repair network cabling and switching for telecommunications and data systems.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of computer and office equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers, and projectors.
  • Provide backup support to network and database administrators.
  • Collaborate with users, consultants, and software vendors to identify and resolve reported issues.
  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and implementation of new or modified computing functionalities for core business systems.
  • Document and maintain processes related to the use and availability of computing systems to ensure maximum accessibility for business operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead IT project activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Stay updated with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in computer science or a related field is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

Job-Specific Knowledge:

  • Experience in deploying and maintaining effective LANs for data, VOIP, and video transmission, including network performance evaluation.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Proven capability to work collaboratively within multiple teams to complete tasks within designated timeframes.

Must be able to:

  • Engage in activities including bending, stooping, standing, and walking.
  • Stand and walk for two to four hours daily.
  • Climb stairs two to four times a day.
  • Operate standard office equipment, such as PCs, phones, copiers, and printers.
  • Lift and carry equipment or boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Wear designated personal protective equipment when necessary.
Work Schedule

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
