Job Summary

This position oversees departmental functions, including onboarding, terminations, employee relations, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal, state, and Navajo Labor Employment Laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with and support all Shiprock Associated Schools' policies and procedures.
  • Integrate the school philosophy, vision, and mission statements into area of responsibility.
  • Audit and maintain employee personnel files for compliance with SASI policy.
  • Coordinate the job application process, recruitment, and scheduling of interviews.
  • Conduct employee character and employment reference checks.
  • Enforce SASI employee federal, state, and tribal background checks.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and ensure all paperwork has been completed.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to update job descriptions, employment opportunity postings, and legal employer posters.
  • Analyze wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation.
  • Manage personnel records to reflect all internal movements.
  • Ensure Worker's Compensation claims are processed accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate disciplinary and grievance process within SASI, Office of Labor Relations, and agencies.
  • Participate in personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Advise supervisors on personnel matters such as evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Work with supervisors to draft a Professional Development Plan and Dossier.
  • Coordinate annual policy review, salary scale, job descriptions, benefit packages, recruitment, and handbook updates.
  • Provide reports as required.
  • Attend all required trainings and association meetings.
  • Provide a safe and clean work environment.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth through ongoing trainings and professional development days.
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of direct work experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Mastery of federal, state, and Navajo Labor Employment Laws.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and a Navajo Nation food handlers permit.
  • Pass federal background check required per 25 F.R. Part 63.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (Dine/English).
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certification.
