About the Position

The InsideHigherEd Upward Bound Math and Science Program is seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Instructor to join our team. As a Mathematics Instructor, you will play a critical role in creating a culture of achievement and respect where high expectations and results are the norms.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Curriculum: Design and implement standards-aligned, measurable, and ambitious goals to increase student opportunities for achievement. Assess and track performance against the goal.
  • Assess Student Progress: Measure student achievement and progress toward the learning objectives and goals with formative and summative assessment tools.
  • Create a Focused Learning Environment: Establish a focused environment of fairness and respect that encourages students to take risks and strive to reach goals.
  • Communicate High Expectations: Communicate and enforce high expectations and standards for behavior and academic performance aligned with the BCCC Upward Bound Math and Science Program standards to create a strong culture of achievement and respect.
  • Utilize Technology: Experience with current educational research and the ability to utilize current technology, including Student Learning Management Systems.
  • Teaching Methods: Experience using teaching methods to address student learning styles and knowledge of current technology.
  • Classroom Management: Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness, assess levels of student achievement effectively, and prescribe actions for improvement. Maintain appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and others.
  • Engagement: Exhibit outstanding classroom management and engagement.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree and secondary certificate in math.
  • Experience: Experience developing lesson plans for high school math courses and basic knowledge of computer and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree in Mathematics.
  • Diverse Populations: Experience in serving diverse populations.
