The Vice President of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for enhancing and expanding the Company's business development strategies by leading a team dedicated to building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors within a designated geographic area.

This role involves engaging with senior executives to ensure the Company maintains synergistic development pipelines that can evolve into significant, long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs the activities of the business development team while managing personal accounts. Responsibilities include professional development and performance evaluation of team members. Monitors progress and outcomes of all direct reports, collaborating with leadership to set objectives for team growth.
  • Develops annual and long-term strategic plans for accounts within the assigned region, including personal accounts. Establishes strategies for the growth of business opportunities and strategic partnerships, reviewing plans quarterly for necessary adjustments.
  • Evaluates industry trends and formulates an annual business strategy for specific market segments and assigned accounts. Collaborates with management to create and implement a sales strategy that includes forecasting sales and activity objectives, with quarterly reviews to assess needed changes.
  • Organizes, executes, and assesses monthly objectives of the sales action plan, managing time and resources effectively while motivating the team regarding sales goals.
  • Crafts account strategies for all relevant clients, including personal accounts. Proactively identifies client challenges and collaborates with the appropriate operational leaders to provide solutions aligned with Company policies.
  • Ensures that the business development team, as well as personal records, are accurately maintained within the database for both active and prospective accounts in the region.

This includes maintaining detailed account profiles, contact information, opportunities, and communications.

  • Keeps current with professional knowledge in designated therapeutic areas and the Company's service offerings (clinical, data management, statistics, medical writing, functional services, etc.) to enhance the value-added services provided to clients.
  • Facilitates regular updates with the business development team, sharing new developments in their region and the clinical research industry, escalating urgent issues to management as needed.
  • Participates in weekly updates with management and the business development team regarding new activities in the assigned territory, ensuring urgent matters are communicated promptly.
  • Actively engages in professional meetings and conventions as appropriate.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the healthcare sector in roles related to sales, marketing, commercial operations, or business development. Experience engaging with pharmaceutical industry decision-makers is preferred. Comprehensive clinical research experience is essential.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sales strategies and market approaches.
  • Results-oriented and proactive - acts swiftly and purposefully, with relevant experience in a B2B consultative sales environment.
  • Capable of working independently to meet timelines for specific RFPs, customer presentations, and client deliverables while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • High integrity and strong work ethic, demonstrating proactive leadership.

Eligibility for paid sick time may vary based on state and municipal regulations.

Syneos adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local paid sick time laws.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $178,000, reflecting the anticipated low and high salary range for this role at Syneos Health.

Actual salary will depend on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency in the role.
