Position Summary

As a Structural Solutions Engineer specializing in Composite Strengthening Systems, you will play a pivotal role in independently and collaboratively advancing the application of our innovative Composite Strengthening Systems (CSS) for retrofit and rehabilitation projects across various regions.

Your expertise will be instrumental in providing high-level consultation to both internal teams and external stakeholders, including engineers, architects, and contractors.

Your responsibilities will encompass identifying and addressing project requirements, assessing competitive landscapes, and exploring market opportunities to effectively implement our business strategy for this dynamic product line.

Additionally, you will research and relay pertinent market trends and field opportunities to management and industry partners, ensuring optimal customer satisfaction.

Building and nurturing relationships with design professionals, specifiers, and major contractors will be essential as you offer consultation on strengthening initiatives for existing structures and facilitate the specification of our products.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with external clients and team members to pinpoint opportunities for consultation in design, testing, development, and implementation of Simpson Strong-Tie's Composite Strengthening Systems (CSS) products to fulfill project requirements. (30%)

  • Identify project opportunities and work closely with the team to support the application of our CSS on significant projects, particularly during designated 'bid days'. (20%)

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key engineers, engineering firms, and contractors in the region, fostering a team-oriented approach to engage design professionals for product specification. (15%)

  • Provide on-site support for our CSS installation partners, including attending pre-bid job walks and conducting site visits as necessary. (10%)

  • Conduct technical presentations and workshops for external clients, showcasing how our CSS products offer effective solutions for retrofit and rehabilitation projects. (10%)

  • Collaborate with marketing and product management to strategize the introduction of new products and information to the market. (5%)

  • Maintain Department of Transportation approvals for concrete repair and strengthening products, assisting in product approval reviews and submissions. (5%)

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including CRM management, scheduling, and timely submission of expense reports. (5%)


Qualifications

To excel in this role, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California.
  • B.S. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Five years of structural design experience, particularly in retrofitting or reinforced concrete commercial structures.
  • One year of sales or design experience with externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthening systems is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. The work environment includes both office settings and outdoor construction sites, with standard office equipment utilized regularly.


Travel Requirements

This position necessitates domestic travel, including overnight stays, to fulfill job responsibilities.
