Job Summary

The Mental Health Therapist is a critical member of our team at Children's Hospital Of The King's Daughters, providing high-quality mental health services to patients and their families. As a licensed therapist, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide evidence-based therapies to children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of Clinical Care
    • Conduct thorough clinical evaluations to identify mental health symptoms, chronic illness, trauma, and other psychosocial and environmental problems.
    • Evaluate children and adolescents for risk of harm to themselves or others and triggers to such.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address diagnoses and symptoms.
    • Provide evidence-based therapies, including individual, family, and group modalities, to children with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring conditions.
    • Submit comprehensive reports, progress notes, and treatment plans to meet regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
  • Integration of Clinical Care
    • Complete comprehensive reports for review by the broader treatment team.
    • Obtain and track outcome measures using psychometric tools, share data with collaborating care providers, and identify clinical trends.
    • Lead coordination efforts with patients' medical care providers to ensure seamless integration of medical and mental health care.
    • Participate in integrated care teams and facilitate transitions along the continuum of care as needed.

    • Travel to offsite locations may be required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current Virginia clinical license.
  • Certification in evidenced-based modalities, such as Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • At least two years of post-license related work experience is preferred.
  • Experience with implementing evidence-based treatments with children and families is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work as a multidisciplinary team member is essential.
Working Conditions

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and other environmental stressors.
