We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at New York Oncology & Hematology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team in a fast-paced oncology/hematology clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
