Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ecologist to join our team as a Field Lead. As a key member of our Natural Resource group, you will be responsible for leading field teams and performing various ecological and environmental tasks, including species surveys, habitat assessments, and wetland delineations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and work alongside field teams to conduct ecological and environmental assessments
  • Perform species surveys, habitat assessments, and wetland delineations
  • Collect and analyze ecological and environmental data
  • Develop and implement plans to move projects forward
  • Prepare report documentation and supporting materials for client and regulatory agency submittals
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in wildlife biology, rangeland ecology, environmental science, forestry, botany, soil science, or a closely related natural resource field
  • Three or more years of related experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient MS Office skills
  • Comprehensive note-taking skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high work ethic
  • Proven field skills, including the ability to navigate in difficult terrain using aerial maps
  • Familiarity with GPS data collection within a broad range of ecological communities and environmental regulatory frameworks

Work Environment

This position works in both field and office settings. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather, remote locations, summer heat, rough terrain, and wildlife; as well as bending, stooping, carrying field equipment, standing, and walking for extended periods, and making visual and tactile distinctions using color, texture, moisture content, depth, and distance.
