Salary and Benefits
As a Transportation Specialist - Student Care, you will have the opportunity to earn a competitive salary of up to $17.50 per hour, with a new hire sign-on bonus up to $250. Our comprehensive benefits package is available on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment, and we offer flexible scheduling to suit your needs.
Job Description
As a Transportation Specialist - Student Care, you will be responsible for safely and reliably transporting and assisting students and other school district passengers to and from school, educational or sporting events, community-based programs, and other special activities.
Responsibilities
- Safely care for and protect student passengers at all times.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required, and instruct passenger riders regarding safety procedures.
- Establish and maintain favorable working relationships with parents, school staff, and Dean Transportation staff.
- Attend training sessions, annual in-service, and workshops conducted by Dean Transportation Inc. and/or other approved agencies.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:
- Identify with the geographic service area of the school district and routes you travel.
- Demonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Deal with exuberant behavior characteristics of youthful riders, and administer disciplinary procedures in keeping with company and school district policies.
- Be alert and exercise good judgment concerning emergencies and day-to-day operations.
Body Mechanics of School Bus Attendant
As a Transportation Specialist - Student Care, you will be required to perform various tasks that involve lifting, pulling, bending, and carrying heavy objects, including:
- Opening and closing of bus entrance and emergency doors.
- Bending, pushing, and pulling to load and unload a wheelchair, with or without a passenger, onto a lift platform.
- Bending, supporting, and otherwise physically helping passengers into and out of a school bus.
- Carrying and lifting into and from the school bus, personal articles and adaptive equipment of various weights and sizes.
Physical Demands
This role requires a high level of physical activity, including:
- Bending, stretching, and pulling to load and unload heavy objects.
- Lifting, carrying, and transporting passengers and equipment.
- Standing for long periods of time, and walking on uneven surfaces.
Working Conditions
As a Transportation Specialist - Student Care, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions, and will be required to work in a team environment.
