Position Overview: The Manager of Collision Repair and Training is responsible for overseeing a productive and profitable collision repair department. This role focuses on effective staffing, employee retention, cost management, and maintaining accurate records of all work performed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily trade walks to assess operations.
  • Organize and schedule all internal collision repair tasks.
  • Directly manage and assign technicians and detailers to specific repair orders.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for collision technicians and support staff.
  • Review daily productivity reports alongside payroll documentation.
  • Facilitate the writing and booking of all used vehicle repair orders.
  • Oversee parts ordering and billing processes for used vehicles.
  • Coordinate sublet repairs and track their progress daily.
  • Ensure proper posting of all sublet work to the relevant repair orders.
  • Maintain service timelines, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently.
  • Approve vendor repairs and ensure pricing aligns with negotiated agreements.
  • Set and strive to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Manage hiring, training, and performance evaluations of collision department staff.
  • Utilize reports and tracking systems to monitor departmental performance.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration within the department and across the organization.
  • Stay informed about and comply with all relevant regulations affecting service operations.
  • Ensure adherence to manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all records are processed correctly.
  • Provide technical training and arrange for staff to attend relevant training programs.
  • Collaborate with the parts manager to monitor parts orders and availability.
  • Uphold high-quality reconditioning standards and minimize return repairs.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on completed jobs.
  • Stay updated on new tools and equipment, recommending purchases as necessary.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and free from hazards.
  • Manage the care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
  • Participate in scheduled management meetings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance for both self and the team.
  • Commit to guest satisfaction and ensure a positive experience for all customers.
  • Establish personal performance goals aligned with company standards.
  • Review and analyze departmental performance regularly to improve efficiency.
  • Understand industry terminology and stay current with technological advancements.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations governing business operations.
  • Follow supervisor directives and adhere to workplace rules and procedures.
