The Family Support Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting mothers with dependent children, primarily those engaged in substance use disorder recovery programs. This position encompasses three main responsibilities: 1. Organizing and leading parenting and family-focused activities in collaboration with the Family Program Team. 2. Offering skill development and support for daily family activities; and 3. Ensuring effective communication and coordination of care among all involved services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold SAMSHA's recovery principles, promoting health and wellness as individuals work towards their full potential.
  • Assist families in securing safe housing and provide housing search support.
  • Facilitate educational support groups, including those focused on parenting and treatment.
  • Coordinate and lead children's programming with the MARFU team.
  • Evaluate and support mothers in their parenting and recovery journeys.
  • Help develop and achieve individualized family goal plans.
  • Provide tailored skill-building in areas such as parenting, stress management, and problem-solving.
  • Conduct most client interactions in participants' homes.
  • Offer transportation assistance for appointments and events as necessary.
  • Support mothers in addressing their children's needs, including education, health, and social development.
  • Engage in the division's Trauma Informed Care Initiative and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Promote holistic health and wellness activities among participants.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to foster a positive work environment.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:
  • Four years of experience in providing services to women facing chemical dependency challenges, or an Associate's degree with two years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Chemical Health, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in group facilitation.
  • Commitment to working in a diverse and dynamic service environment.
  • Experience in delivering culturally responsive services.
  • A minimum of one year of sobriety from alcohol and chemical dependency.
Preferred:
  • LADC certification is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Background in culturally diverse environments.
  • Experience with programs addressing dual diagnoses.
