On-Site Project Supervisor

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ON-SITE PROJECT SUPERVISOR

As an On-Site Project Supervisor, you will oversee and manage all on-site operations during the construction, renovation, or repair of federal facilities and infrastructure. This role ensures adherence to government regulations, contract specifications, and safety protocols. Experience with DoD and USACE projects is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop and maintain construction timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of all project phases.
Site Management:
  • Oversee daily activities on the construction site.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular inspections to monitor progress and safety compliance.
Supervision and Leadership:
  • Manage and lead construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Provide training and support to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure all work aligns with federal, state, and local building codes.
  • Maintain accurate records of construction activities and progress.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports to project managers and government bodies.
Safety Management:
  • Implement and enforce safety measures to prevent accidents.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Address safety concerns promptly.
Quality Control:
  • Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure quality standards.
  • Resolve construction issues or defects efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications and approved designs.
Communication:
  • Act as the primary liaison between government entities and contractors.
  • Facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders.
  • Manage disputes or conflicts that arise during construction.
Budget Management:
  • Monitor project expenses to ensure budget alignment.
  • Approve purchase orders and invoices for materials and services.
  • Identify and mitigate potential cost overruns.
Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ON-SITE PROJECT SUPERVISOR

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
  • OSHA 30, EM, USACE CQM certification, and CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Must pass drug screening and comply with drug-free workplace policies.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a Supervisor on federal projects.
  • Experience with Quality Control Plans in accordance with government standards.
  • Experience in developing safety programs.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in construction management software.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Competent with MS Office applications.
Working Environment:
  • This position involves working primarily on construction sites, which may expose you to various weather conditions and physical hazards.
  • Travel may be necessary to different project locations.
  • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet project deadlines.
