Construction Superintendent

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing all on-site activities during the construction, renovation, or repair of government facilities. Your role will ensure adherence to regulatory standards, contract specifications, and safety protocols.

Core Duties Include:
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop and maintain project schedules, collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors, and ensure timely completion of all project phases within budget.
  • Site Management: Oversee daily construction site operations, ensure compliance with project plans and quality standards, and conduct regular inspections to monitor progress and safety adherence.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Manage construction crews and subcontractors, assign tasks, and provide training to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all work meets building codes and regulations, maintain accurate records of construction activities, and prepare necessary reports for stakeholders.
  • Safety Management: Implement safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and address safety concerns promptly.
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure quality standards are met and resolve any construction issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Act as the primary liaison between government entities and contractors, facilitating effective communication among all project stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project expenses to align with budget constraints and address any potential cost overruns.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
  • OSHA 30, EM, USACE CQM certification, and CPR/First Aid certification are required.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license and physical capability to lift 50 pounds and navigate construction sites.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years of successful experience as a Superintendent on federal projects.
  • Experience with Quality Control Plans and safety program development.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office.
Working Environment:
  • This position primarily involves working on construction sites, with exposure to various weather conditions and physical hazards.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet project deadlines.
