KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT
As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing all on-site activities during the construction, renovation, or repair of government facilities. Your role will ensure adherence to regulatory standards, contract specifications, and safety protocols.
Core Duties Include:
- Project Planning and Coordination: Develop and maintain project schedules, collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors, and ensure timely completion of all project phases within budget.
- Site Management: Oversee daily construction site operations, ensure compliance with project plans and quality standards, and conduct regular inspections to monitor progress and safety adherence.
- Supervision and Leadership: Manage construction crews and subcontractors, assign tasks, and provide training to promote safety and efficiency.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all work meets building codes and regulations, maintain accurate records of construction activities, and prepare necessary reports for stakeholders.
- Safety Management: Implement safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and address safety concerns promptly.
- Quality Control: Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure quality standards are met and resolve any construction issues efficiently.
- Communication: Act as the primary liaison between government entities and contractors, facilitating effective communication among all project stakeholders.
- Budget Management: Monitor project expenses to align with budget constraints and address any potential cost overruns.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
- OSHA 30, EM, USACE CQM certification, and CPR/First Aid certification are required.
- Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.
- Valid driver's license and physical capability to lift 50 pounds and navigate construction sites.
- Minimum of five years of successful experience as a Superintendent on federal projects.
- Experience with Quality Control Plans and safety program development.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office.
- This position primarily involves working on construction sites, with exposure to various weather conditions and physical hazards.
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet project deadlines.
