Position Overview

Salary: Hourly Rate: $18.95

Galveston County Health District is on the lookout for an Immunization Program Coordinator to enhance our public health initiatives.

The Immunization Program Coordinator will be instrumental in the effective execution, documentation, and oversight of outbreak response and ACIP-recommended vaccinations, including COVID-19, ensuring accurate record-keeping for our community and patients. This role requires close collaboration with clinic nursing personnel, patients, and various department members to streamline the immunization process while maintaining precise records. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for the success of our program aimed at improving immunization rates and record retention in Galveston County.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding an associate degree and two years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in a clinical environment, particularly with cash handling, is advantageous.
  • Experience in public health or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data entry and familiarity with software applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to provide immediate transportation without reliance on organizational vehicles.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license.
  • A Department of Motor Vehicles check may be necessary.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including evenings or weekends as required.
  • Compliance with GCHD Immunization policies is mandatory.
  • Completion of ICS training requirements is necessary.
  • Successful passing of a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening is required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and register eligible patients for vaccinations.
  • Review immunization records for compliance with CDC, state, and school requirements, identifying any vaccination needs.
  • Confirm patient information and vaccine details, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation, including eligibility screening for all vaccine recipients.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address discrepancies in data and vaccination records.
  • Input patient information into necessary databases.
  • Assist the Immunizations Program Manager with various program activities.
  • Support the planning and execution of mobile vaccination clinics and outreach efforts.
  • Handle phone inquiries regarding immunization history and vaccines, including COVID-19.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives as needed.
  • Generate standard reports from database systems as required.
  • Assist with phone bank operations or other designated tasks during real-world events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
