This role entails comprehensive project management oversight from initiation to completion of roadway enhancement initiatives. You will employ project management methodologies to guarantee timely, budget-compliant, and scope-adherent project delivery. Engaging with public entities and the community is essential to gather feedback and secure informed consent. You will provide strategic direction and leadership to technical project teams, ensuring alignment with MnDOT's strategic objectives and commitments.

Essential Qualifications

Senior Engineer:

  • Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)

Graduate Engineer 2:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or its equivalent as evaluated by NCEES/EAC.
  • A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Two years of civil engineering experience post-graduation.

OR

  • A Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or its equivalent as evaluated by NCEES/EAC AND
  • A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • One year of civil engineering experience post-graduation.

OR

  • Achieved a passing score on the Minnesota Principles & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam.

Required Skills for Both Levels:

  • Proficiency in project management techniques and tools.
  • Experience in project scheduling.
  • Valid Class D Driver's License.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in highway project management and development.
  • Extensive experience in public engagement.
  • Project Management Professional or similar certifications.

Physical Requirements:

While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee may need to work during evenings and may be exposed to varying weather conditions. The employee will operate a vehicle in both on-road and off-road environments and may walk on uneven terrain. The position involves significant time spent in an office setting, with the need to frequently change body positions (standing, sitting, bending, etc.). The employee may occasionally operate machinery and equipment under varying conditions and may need to lift between 50 and 70 pounds. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
