Job Summary

This role focuses on facilitating revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, and payment processing. Additionally, it involves performing administrative and financial-clearance duties necessary to facilitate the procurement of clinical services by patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collects patient demographic and financial information from physician offices, acute-care entities, or patients themselves.
  • Schedules services for patients and handles referrals from primary care doctors.
  • Verifies patient insurance, confirms benefits eligibility, and performs pre-authorization, pre-certification, and/or notification as required by third-party providers.
  • Notifies patients of financial liabilities as determined by insurance benefits, coverage limits, and appointment/procedure-specific charges.
  • Takes an active role in the collection of patient payments and communicates collection policies effectively to patients.
  • Posts collected payments in the system of record and verifies the appropriate dollar amount and volume are posted in compliance with department guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • One year of medical office, insurance, physician's office practice, or hospital registration experience
  • Bilingual
Skills and Abilities
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with word processing programs and electronic spreadsheets
  • Strong customer service skills, including excellent interpersonal and telephone skills
  • High degree of tact due to frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and insurance companies
  • Experience using computer-based patient registration systems
  • Thorough understanding of private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
