Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Coordinator to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Medical Office Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating patient appointments, testing, and follow-up care. You will also be responsible for arranging new patient appointments, participating in team meetings, and training and mentoring new staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient appointments and testing
  • Participate in team meetings and provide data metrics and recommendations
  • Train and mentor new staff members
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments and testing
  • Obtain prior authorizations for future testing
  • Prioritize phone calls and messages
  • Reschedule clinics to alternate dates
  • Arrange and open schedules to work through issues
  • Answer patient messages and phone calls
  • Verify patient insurance and proceed with scheduling
  • Reach out to supplemental departments to schedule patients for testing or consults
  • Coordinate office visits with other appointments
  • Request records and imaging discs
  • Arrange admissions for patients
  • Coordinate with other outpatient appointments

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum three years' medical office or administrative support experience
  • Some additional training in office systems or other post-high school education preferred
