Key Responsibilities

Establish and nurture effective and ethical business relationships with suppliers for all materials, supplies, services, and equipment necessary for the operations of Manitou. You will manage vendor relationships and parts (70%) to ensure timely delivery of goods and services that meet our quality standards at the most competitive costs.

Act as a subject matter expert (SME) (30%) to ensure all users are proficient and comfortable using company tools effectively. Collaborate with leadership to align with strategic initiatives and identify knowledge-sharing needs, which includes developing, implementing, and communicating company objectives.

Core Duties:

  • Identify suppliers capable of providing necessary materials, supplies, services, and equipment that meet quality, pricing, and delivery standards.
  • Assess current and potential suppliers based on quality, pricing, reliability, on-time delivery, and overall cost.
  • Establish dependable sources of supply, reduce total costs of purchased goods, and streamline purchasing operations through annual purchase agreements.
  • Negotiate terms of annual purchase agreements, standard purchase orders, and other contracts to achieve the best combination of quality, pricing, discounts, and additional costs.
  • Analyze specifications, functional requirements, and vendor capabilities to ensure minimum costs are achieved.
  • Maintain effective communication with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Shipping/Receiving, and other departments to fulfill primary responsibilities.
  • Coordinate emergency actions with suppliers and all relevant parties to prevent or mitigate issues arising from delayed shipments, quality concerns, changes in specifications, cancellations, etc.
  • Initiate routine documentation and transactions for the procurement of goods and services following approved procedures and management directives.
  • Conduct necessary correspondence with vendors to obtain quotations, expedite deliveries, and monitor vendor activities, including effecting cancellations and modifying purchase orders.
  • Oversee the activities of clerical personnel performing direct purchasing support functions.
  • Develop and prepare reports periodically and as needed to reflect the status and performance of purchasing activities, vendor progress, and other assigned tasks.
  • Continuously analyze purchasing procedures to simplify operations involving purchasing and suppliers.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation, and delivery of training programs by actively participating in training development activities, demonstrating high-quality methods and skills in training evaluations.
  • Recommend and revise materials to reflect nuances or enhancements in internal processes.
  • Serve as the SME for self-service customers of ERP and MRP systems.
  • Deliver training through various presentation formats, including classroom settings, one-on-one sessions, or digital communication.
  • Work with internal departments to enhance business processes related to employee training and product support.
  • Encourage participation and open communication by providing regular feedback on new technologies and processes to users and upper management.
