About the Position

The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time, grant-funded, Project Director, Regional Center of Excellence (COE) in the Workforce and Economic Advancement division.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Workforce and Economic Advancement, the Director will oversee and provide strategic direction to the implementation of the Regional Center of Excellence (COE) activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive gap analysis studies on emerging and priority sectors and occupations in the region, manage workforce research studies, and provide technical assistance to the regional consortium.
  • Develop industry partnerships, oversee grant compliance and budgets, manage contracts, and generate reports and proposals.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure the success of COE activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience to conduct research within career technical education, and/or economic workforce development including prior experience interfacing with both public and private sector employees and organizations.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Evidence of effective leadership at the community college and/or four-year college/university level.
  • Previous experience coordinating grants, budgets, and grant deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Conduct complex research projects, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare effective technical reports.
  • Work with Director to identify and define problems, determine methodology, evaluate data, make recommendations with appropriate justification and develop/implement a plan of action.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
About the District

College of the Canyons serves more than 37,000 students on two campuses in the Santa Clarita Valley, about 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
