Job Title: Direct Support Professional Back End

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Andrus Childrens Center. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, predictable, and therapeutic living environment for children in our care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assure the safety and well-being of each resident and the cottage community
  • Supervise residents at all times, based on their age and level, to ensure everyone's safety
  • Implement the program schedule as written and on time
  • Utilize Sanctuary and trauma-sensitive care principles in daily interactions
  • Apply Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques to prevent triggering, intervene early, and manage crises
  • Conduct regular visual checks of residents using the scan system
  • Document work in a clear and timely manner, including scanning, nightly logs, round-up, census, and other reports
  • Establish and maintain a safe environment within the cottage
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and residents through established systems
  • Support the overall strategic plan of the organization

Qualifications:

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (in-service trainings are mandatory)
  • Minimum of HS diploma (or equivalent) plus one year of experience working with children or adults with developmental or behavioral disabilities
  • Computer proficiency and ability to navigate Microsoft Office suite
  • Multi-lingual a plus
  • Driver's license, preferred

Physical/Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, climb stairs, and lift weights of up to 30 lbs
  • Participation in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, including a written and verbal test
