Job Title: Per Diem CT Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Per Diem CT Technologist to join our team in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented CT Technologist to perform CT scans and reformations according to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and department operating procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and basic CT procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform CT scans and reformations according to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and department operating procedures.
  • Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques.
  • Operate support equipment for CT, including independent workstations, pressure injectors, PACs, and RADNET.
  • Initiate IVs for administration of contrast media for CT, in accordance with department policy and utilizing standard precautions.
  • Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and encouraging questions and answering any questions the patient may have.
  • Transport patients to and from departments when necessary, and assist in transfer of patients on and off the CT table.
  • Continually monitor patient condition during CT procedures.
  • Work with radiologists in tailoring protocols to meet patient exam requirements.
  • Obtain and document pertinent patient history to provide radiologists with adequate information for exam interpretation and to ensure procedural criteria is met.
  • Recognize contraindications for IV and oral contrast per patient history, diagnosis, or protocols.
  • Document all patient information on appropriate forms for department records related to preservation of patient records, patient statistics, billing information, and supplies.
  • Assist in scheduling of exams.
  • Be compliant with established Accrediting Organization, IEMA, and department safety standards to ensure patients and staff well-being at all times.
Requirements:
  • 3-year general radiology ARRT registry.
  • IEMA license.
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
  • IV certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Must pass advanced CT certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic CT procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer competent.
Working Conditions:

The Per Diem CT Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work overtime when needed and respond to work at short notice. The ideal candidate will be able to work weekends and holidays, participate in on-call programs, and be available to department needs with minimal notice.

The Per Diem CT Technologist will be exposed to hazardous chemicals and radiation, and will be required to follow radiation safety guidelines. The ideal candidate will be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, and will be able to use patient handling equipment when necessary.
