Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CT Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing high-quality CT scans and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position patients correctly and use proper immobilization techniques to ensure accurate and safe imaging.
  • Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors and protocols, based on patient diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information.
  • Use correct technical factors in accordance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) to minimize radiation exposure while obtaining diagnostic-quality images.
  • Perform CT angiography, 3D reconstruction, and post-processing of computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation.
  • Follow established CT Department Technologist workflow, including scanning patients, sending images to PACS, and completing cases in RADNET.
  • Operate support equipment for CT, such as independent workstations, pressure injectors, and PACS.
  • Initiate IVs for contrast media administration and recognize adverse reactions to radiologic contrast materials.
  • Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and answering questions.
  • Transport patients to and from departments as needed and assist with patient transfers.
  • Work with radiologists to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements.
Accountability
  • Obtain and document patient history to ensure appropriateness of exams and contrast media administration.
  • Recognize contraindications for IV and oral contrast based on patient history, diagnosis, or protocols.
  • Document patient information on appropriate forms for department records, including patient statistics, billing information, and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of medical supplies and notify ordering personnel as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling exams and ensure efficient utilization of CT equipment and personnel.
Requirements
  • 3-year general radiology ARRT registry
  • IEMA license
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire
  • IV certification within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to work overtime, respond to work at short notice, and participate in on-call programs
  • Excellent technical competence, computer skills, and equipment operation skills
  • Ability to practice high-quality patient care and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 35 pounds, and use patient handling equipment when necessary. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal assistance and demonstrate excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
