Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated per diem CT Imaging Technologist to join our esteemed team.
Role Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for performing CT scans and reconstructions in accordance with established clinical protocols and departmental procedures. Key duties include:
- Accurately positioning patients and utilizing appropriate immobilization techniques.
- Executing optimal scans by applying correct technical factors based on patient history and diagnosis.
- Employing the lowest radiation doses necessary to achieve diagnostic quality scans, adhering to the standards set by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
- Conducting CT angiography, 3D reconstructions, and data post-processing to facilitate radiologist evaluations.
- Following the CT Department workflow meticulously, ensuring all images and data are correctly processed and archived.
- Operating essential CT support equipment, including independent workstations and pressure injectors.
- Administering IV contrast media in compliance with departmental policies and maintaining IV certification.
- Preparing patients for procedures by providing clear explanations and addressing any inquiries.
- Transporting patients safely and monitoring their condition throughout the imaging process.
- Collaborating with radiologists to tailor imaging protocols to meet specific patient needs.
Documentation and Compliance:
The technologist will be accountable for maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Responsibilities include:
- Documenting patient histories and ensuring the appropriateness of exams and contrast media.
- Maintaining inventory levels of medical supplies and notifying appropriate personnel when reordering is necessary.
- Participating in safety initiatives and adhering to established safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a general radiology ARRT registry, IEMA license, and CPR certification within three months of hire. A basic understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and CT procedures is essential, along with strong communication skills and computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements:
The role may require flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to lift patients as needed. Candidates should be prepared to work in a dynamic environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
