Job Overview

Position Summary:

Ajax Tocco is in search of a Controls Systems Engineer to deliver expert technical knowledge in the deployment and utilization of control and automation technologies. This role will serve as a lead engineer on both single and multi-discipline projects. Responsibilities include generating control schematics, control panel designs, Bills of Materials, and drawings using AutoCAD Electrical. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of PLC and HMI programming along with exceptional problem-solving abilities. Experience with robotics is advantageous. Additionally, the role involves basic field commissioning and startup of ATM process control systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a team that provides integrated services to fulfill our clients' requirements globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical schematics for control systems, including power, control, and I/O wiring diagrams.
  • Select and size components for control systems in a cost-effective manner.
  • Create assembly schematics for control systems, including panel and enclosure layouts.
  • Prepare electrical manuals for customers for each machine.
  • Program PLC and HMI software.
  • Configure Servo motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
  • Debug software at the Pillar facility.
  • Conduct service calls at customer locations.
  • Integrate control systems into networks.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5-10%).
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain departmental cleanliness standards.
  • Understand and execute processes and procedures, ensuring timely processing of engineering releases.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 10 years of relevant technical experience preferred.
  • Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction across all organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of various teams.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experienced in PLC and HMI programming software.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (2D AutoCAD).
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the company with integrity.

Experience Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in Controls or Automation Engineering (Required).
