Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical) is essential
- A minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a Manufacturing Engineering capacity within a high-volume production setting is essential
- Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC systems is a critical requirement
- Strong capability to interpret and understand intricate instructions, safety protocols, operational and maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals
- Comprehensive knowledge of Process Flow, Control Plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control, and Machine Controls
- Proven understanding of engineering theories and principles
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001/TS 16949 standards
- Ability to execute detailed, complex oral or written instructions
- Proficiency in employing problem-solving techniques to tackle intricate issues
- Excellent communication and listening abilities
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, or other drafting software

Responsibilities
- Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor
- The Automation Systems Specialist will act as an automation and assembly expert in the design, construction, and execution of assembly equipment control systems and standards
- Directs activities related to the development and execution of assembly equipment control systems and standards to meet production needs for new and existing programs
- Designs electrical schematics, including controls, safety, power circuits, pneumatic systems, bill of materials, and panel layouts for custom automation systems, adhering to both internal and customer specifications
- Collaborates with Mechanical Engineers to integrate electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical designs
- Conducts equipment diagnostics and designs using PLC and HMI, applying extensive technical knowledge to ensure safety, performance, and reliability
- Provides expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues
- Assists in the creation and review of FMEAs and Control Plans
- Continuously evaluates products and processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency enhancement
- Tests, troubleshoots, and debugs automation systems, following internal test scripts and customer-provided factory acceptance test protocols
- Creates and revises operation and troubleshooting manuals for automation systems
- Supports the Engineering team by contributing to costing, electrical, and controls concepts for new applications
- Ensures compliance with project budgets, schedules, and deadlines
- Coordinates and conducts validations, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ)
- Investigates and implements new methods, layouts, equipment, and process analyses to improve overall plant operations
- Develops and implements work instructions and standardizes processes
- Troubleshoots processes that frequently encounter significant production challenges
- Offers technical support to various departments, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, marketing, customer service, and management as required
- Participates in special projects as necessary
- Complies with OSHA safety and health regulations, as well as other federal, state, and local regulations concerning environmental, industrial, and electrical mandates
- Understands customer-specific requirements and defines the personnel and technical resources necessary to deliver timely, high-quality service and meet customer expectations, thereby driving revenue growth and enhancing customer satisfaction
- Takes responsibility for forecasting and delivering monthly financial performance metrics related to revenue, labor, and costs, aligning with annual plan objectives
- Leads and facilitates customer-facing communication, proactively resolving issues through close collaboration with sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, outside vendors, and other key stakeholders
