The Controls Engineer plays a crucial role in the development and enhancement of control systems for manufacturing processes. This position involves a blend of technical expertise and practical application in the automotive components sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate hardware and software requirements for equipment vendors, ensuring seamless integration of control systems for new and existing machinery.
  • Provide training to maintenance personnel on equipment functionality and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Design and implement upgrades to control hardware and software to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Modify control systems for process equipment to maximize production efficiency while reducing downtime, focusing on cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop program modifications for equipment controls to align with process enhancements.
  • Maintain and uphold specification standards for both new and existing control systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for personnel on control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair existing control systems, creating tools and documentation to facilitate quick problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Update control documentation, including standard operating procedures, technical drawings, and operational manuals.
  • Offer technical assistance across all production lines.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to address engineering challenges.
Qualifications
  • A two-year degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, along with 5-7 years of experience in controls engineering or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Robot Programming, PLC Programming, and RSLogix 5000.
  • Experience in the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new process equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical components such as motors, power supplies, generators, and transformers.
  • Knowledge of process interface devices, including proximity switches, limit switches, transducer relays, solenoids, and temperature/pressure indicators.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they relate to circuit logic and functionality.
  • Experience with computer hardware interfaces and PLC systems.
