Position Overview:

The Senior Automation Controls Specialist will act as a key player in the design, development, and implementation of control systems for assembly equipment. This role will lead initiatives aimed at fulfilling production demands for both new and existing projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical schematics, including controls, safety, power circuits, and pneumatic systems, ensuring compliance with both internal and client specifications. Collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical designs.
  • Conduct diagnostics and design for equipment using PLC and HMI, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of technical principles to guarantee safety and reliability.
  • Provide expert guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical challenges.
  • Assist in the creation and evaluation of FMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Continuously assess products and processes to uncover opportunities for cost efficiency and performance enhancement.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and debug automation systems, adhering to established testing protocols.
  • Develop and refine operational and troubleshooting manuals for automation systems.
  • Support the engineering team by contributing to cost assessments and electrical concepts for new applications.
  • Ensure projects adhere to budgetary constraints and timelines.
  • Coordinate validations, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
  • Investigate and implement innovative methods and processes to optimize plant operations.
  • Establish and standardize work instructions and processes.
  • Troubleshoot recurring production issues effectively.
  • Provide technical support across various departments, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, and management.
  • Engage in special projects as necessary.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is required.
  • Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC systems is essential.
  • Experience with ignition and other middleware is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with LabView and SQL data management is preferred.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex instructions and technical documentation.
  • Solid understanding of Process Flow, Control Plans, PFMEA, and Machine Controls.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and theories.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001/TS standards.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Proficient in problem-solving techniques to address complex challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, or similar drafting software.
  • Comprehensive electrical and mechanical knowledge.
