Corporate Immigration Legal Assistant

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Business Immigration Paralegal will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of immigration matters, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
DRAFTING:
- Oversee the management of immigration cases, ensuring all deadlines are met and cases are processed efficiently.
- Prepare and draft essential support letters and forms related to immigration, including complex submissions such as Request for Evidence (RFE) responses and intricate case histories.
- Compile and organize exhibits and necessary components for immigration filings.
- Incorporate feedback from supervisors into filings with precision and attention to detail.
- Review case documents to identify significant issues, including gaps in status and compliance with immigration regulations.
- Conduct research on relevant legal topics and case facts.
- Draft routine correspondence for clients and agencies under the guidance of supervisors.
- Act as a resource for junior team members, providing mentorship and addressing case-related inquiries.
- Maintain organized and compliant client records for ease of access and review.
- Update practice management systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
CASE MANAGEMENT:
- Supervise case production operations, including the drafting of legal correspondence.
- Monitor timelines and deadlines, keeping attorneys informed of any potential issues.
- Allocate cases effectively to ensure timely completion and address any productivity challenges.
- Resolve questions or issues raised by Paralegals, providing guidance or escalating to attorneys as necessary.
- Review draft submissions, identifying and addressing major case issues independently.
- Prepare summaries and documents to support case preparation and assist attorneys in client communications.
- Facilitate communication between clients and the team, providing updates on case progress.
- Build strong relationships with clients to ensure effective communication regarding their cases.
- Generate reports for case teams and oversee report generation for clients.
- Ensure compliance with firm protocols regarding file maintenance and record-keeping.
- Track and monitor the status of immigration submissions diligently.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years of experience in business immigration, preferably in a specialized area.
- Strong understanding of immigration law and common case issues.
- Experience managing subordinate employees is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and learn new skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to firm-specific software.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
