Job Description

United Contractor Services, LLC is a leading Multi Craft Specialty Contractor. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals for our Commercial Construction Internship opportunities.

Our Commercial Construction Internship provides a hands-on learning experience, allowing the intern to gain practical knowledge and skills that are essential for a career in commercial construction and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support
    • Documentation: Assist with maintaining project documentation, such as contracts, permits, and safety records.
    • Communication: Help with communication between the subcontractor and other parties, including general contractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Project Support
    • Scheduling: Assist with creating and maintaining project schedules.
    • Material Management: Help in ordering, tracking, and inventorying materials.
    • Quality Control: Participate in quality control checks to ensure that the drywall installation meets specifications and standards.
  • Fieldwork
    • Site Visits: Occasionally visit construction sites to observe progress and understand the practical aspects of drywall installation.
    • Assisting Technicians: Support experienced drywall installers with tasks such as measuring, cutting, and installing drywall.
    • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations on the job site, including participating in safety meetings and inspections.
  • Learning and Development
    • Training: Participate in training sessions to learn about drywall installation techniques, construction safety, project management, and other relevant topics.
    • Mentorship: Work under the guidance of experienced professionals to gain practical insights and industry knowledge.
  • Technical Tasks
    • Blueprint Reading: Learn to read and interpret construction blueprints and plans.
    • Estimating: Assist in preparing cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
    • Software Use: Utilize construction management software for scheduling, budgeting, and project tracking.
  • Problem-Solving
    • Troubleshooting: Help identify and resolve issues that arise during the construction process.
    • Coordination: Coordinate with different trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university in a bachelors degree program in Construction Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Ability to prioritize work to maximize efficiency.
  • Experience using PROCORE and or Bluebeam is a plus.
