The Cyber Forensics Specialist collaborates closely with Cyber Security Operations teams and internal investigative partners to assist in incident response, as well as internal and external inquiries.

Key responsibilities encompass forensic data collection and analysis, along with providing subject matter expertise in the planning and support of cyber investigations or fraud inquiries.


Role Summary:


The Cyber Forensics Specialist defines, develops, and implements policies, programs, and tools related to Technology Controls/Information Security, offering specialized guidance on risk assessment, identifying vulnerabilities, and delivering security solutions to mitigate risks and safeguard the organization.

This role involves participation in projects of moderate to high complexity, providing detailed reporting, analysis, and assessments at the functional, business line, or enterprise level.


Scope of Responsibilities:
Engages in complex, comprehensive projects and initiatives

Acts as a leading expert resource in technology controls/information security for project teams, the organization, and external vendors

Possesses advanced knowledge of organizational technology controls/security/risk issues

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required

Information security certification/accreditation is advantageous

7+ years of relevant experience

Expertise in IT security and risk management practices

Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with digital forensic principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., EnCase, Axiom, e-Discovery tools, Cellebrite, Intella, Crowdstrike, Splunk)

Understanding of investigative principles, including reporting, evidence handling, chain of custody, and legal proceedings

Ability to convey complex digital evidence matters in an understandable manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention tools and conducting related investigations

Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, leadership, and planning skills

Proven ability to manage crisis situations effectively.

Self-motivated, strategic thinker, negotiator, and consensus builder, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.

Understanding of organizational priorities and relationships

Solid grasp of governing plans, procedures, and business administration

Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, and OSX)

Knowledge of malware analysis and reverse engineering is a plus

Understanding of network services and client/server applications

Experience with enterprise systems and infrastructure

Proficiency in programming/scripting languages is an asset

Background in operational information security disciplines (e.g., incident response, security infrastructure management or monitoring services)

Familiarity with network architecture and security infrastructure placement

Knowledge of security tools such as Anti-Virus and Data Loss Prevention tools

5 years of experience in cyber forensics, incident response, digital forensic investigations, and/or information security roles is beneficial.

Ability to handle conflicts effectively, finding common ground amidst differing opinions.

Capacity to pursue leads until all investigative avenues have been explored.

Ability to assess data and make logical, pragmatic decisions.
