Job Summary:

The University of Louisville is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Total Rewards to lead and oversee all aspects of compensation, health and welfare administration, and retirement for the university's 7,000+ employees.

This strategic leader will be responsible for driving business results by supporting strategic initiatives, influencing the return on employee investment through compensation and benefit strategies that accomplish the desired behavioral and performance outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of plan design and administration practices, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement total rewards strategies that align with the university's mission and vision
  • Provide business partnership and internal consulting on all total rewards issues, including market trends, competitive data, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Communicate business impacts to executive team and university leadership
  • Assist the Vice President of Human Resources in establishing and participating on the Retirement Committee and Compensation Committee
  • Develop and maintain policies for each function through inclusiveness and collaboration
  • Lead and collaborate in the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs
  • Manage communications regarding compensation and benefit plans and policies to ensure the best return and to educate the university community about both the content and the value of the programs being provided
  • Monitor the wellness program to drive efficient and cost-effective operational practices
  • Determine appropriate levels of annual benefit premiums based on costs, funding, and organizational philosophy
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations that control or impact compensation, benefit, and wellness plans and policies
  • Represent the university in the community, CUPA, programs, and conferences
  • Participate in policy development, including negotiations and the collaborative process as it relates to compensation and benefit objectives
  • Provide leadership and guidance to exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company standards and best practices in accordance with applicable Federal and State Laws
  • Work with finance partners to monitor claim trends and impacts to business segments at the department level
  • Work with actuarial partners to understand and project healthcare and stop-loss spend
  • Manage a team of benefits, compensation, wellness, and retirement professionals, guiding their performance management, career development, and driving the successful completion of department goals and metrics

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of plan design and administration practices
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to strategically solve problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive presence
  • Effective consultative skills and experience presenting to all levels of leadership
