Patient Care Associate

Under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by Registered Nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, per established guidelines.
- Perform patient general care, including positioning, lifting, and turning, and using adaptive and transfer equipment per established guidelines.
- Conduct patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with meeting their needs.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and answer call lights promptly to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient room clutter to maintain a clean environment.
- Obtain and label specimens consistent with established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching for new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- Complete additional department, organization, or network activities per established objectives.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care required.
- Preferred qualifications include enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
