Position Title: Music Teacher

Organization: Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science and Technology

Reports To: Principal

Position Duration: 10-Month Role

Position Summary

We are in search of a passionate and creative Music Teacher to contribute to our vibrant educational community. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing a diverse music curriculum that encompasses general music education, the integration of artificial intelligence in music creation, and the facilitation of project-based learning experiences. The Music Teacher will cultivate an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere where students can discover and nurture their musical abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Design and execute a comprehensive music curriculum tailored for elementary students, focusing on general music education and innovative music creation using AI technologies.
  • Performance Coordination: Organize and oversee quarterly performances to showcase student talents to the school community.
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Collect and analyze performance data to inform instructional strategies and collaborate with colleagues to provide differentiated learning opportunities.
  • Standards Alignment: Utilize state standards to create rigorous, objective-driven, and interdisciplinary lessons that align with curriculum maps.
  • Skill Development: Clearly identify and teach critical thinking skills, physical skills, and social skills within each lesson, ensuring students understand their learning objectives.
  • Differentiation: Tailor instruction to meet the unique learning and behavioral needs of each student, ensuring all learners are engaged and challenged.
  • Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that accommodates various learning styles and encourages student participation.
  • Assessment: Conduct formative and summative assessments to enhance instructional decision-making and promote student growth.
  • Feedback: Provide timely and constructive feedback to students regarding their progress toward learning objectives.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and support the overall mission of the school.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain open and respectful communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and curriculum expectations.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in professional growth opportunities and contribute to staff meetings.
  • Support Systems: Implement universal support strategies for students using the Multi-Tiered System of Support framework.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

  • Valid New York State Teaching Certificate at the elementary level.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations is highly desirable.

  • Strong commitment to enhancing student achievement and integrating core values of science and technology.
  • Proficient in using data systems for analysis and action planning.
  • Effective communication skills with students and families.
