Position Overview

Job Title: Art Teacher

Organization: Exploration Elementary Charter School for Science and Technology

Reports To: Principal

Duration: 10-Month Position

Position Summary

We are in search of a passionate and skilled Art Teacher to enhance our educational team. The ideal candidate will be tasked with creating and executing an engaging art curriculum that fosters students' creativity and analytical skills. The Art Teacher will establish a supportive and stimulating classroom atmosphere where students can experiment with diverse artistic methods and materials through hands-on projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a captivating, standards-aligned art curriculum tailored for elementary learners.
  • Project-Based Learning: Create and facilitate project-driven learning experiences that merge art with other disciplines and practical applications.
  • Lesson Design: Craft and modify lesson plans that utilize a variety of artistic techniques and resources.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster a secure and organized classroom that encourages artistic exploration and innovation.
  • Student Assessment: Monitor and evaluate student progress through diverse assessment methods; provide constructive feedback to students and guardians.
  • Art Showcases: Coordinate and exhibit student artwork throughout the institution and during special occasions.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow educators, parents, and administration to enhance student learning and support school initiatives.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in continuous professional development to remain informed about best practices in art education and project-based learning.
  • Resource Management: Oversee art supplies and materials, managing the art room budget effectively.
  • Committee Participation: Contribute to a school committee or team throughout the academic year.
  • Family Engagement: Attend family nights and parent-teacher meetings as required.
  • Technology Utilization: Regularly utilize digital tools for scheduling, communication, and accessing essential documents.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: New York State (NYS) Teacher Certification in Art preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Art Education or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience teaching art at the elementary level is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to inspire and motivate young artists.
