Role Summary
The Computer Science Teacher is responsible for providing exceptional instruction in the field of computer science to students. This role involves designing and executing curriculum plans, delivering engaging classroom experiences, and evaluating student learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs and implements lesson plans and educational materials for computer science classes.
- Facilitates engaging and interactive classroom instruction that accommodates various learning preferences.
- Evaluates student performance through assignments, projects, quizzes, and examinations.
- Offers timely and constructive feedback to students to promote their academic development.
- Keeps accurate records of student attendance, grades, and overall performance.
- Cultivates a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages student engagement and teamwork.
- Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching methodologies and knowledge.
- Utilizes data to assess the effectiveness of lessons and student progress to refine instructional practices.
- Maintains regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Demonstrated flexibility and collaboration skills.
- Fingerprint clearance from NYS Department of Education.
- Current valid New York State Teaching Certificate at the elementary level.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Teaching certification or licensure in Computer Science or a related subject area.
- Prior teaching experience at the primary level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an urban educational setting is advantageous.
- Background in curriculum development and instructional design.
- Prior classroom experience is beneficial.
- Master's degree in education is preferred.
