Nursing Staff Scheduling Coordinator (RN)

Position Overview:


The Nursing Staff Scheduling Coordinator is accountable for the management of daily, weekly, and monthly work rosters for nursing personnel, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Determines staffing levels in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • Utilizes overtime and agency staff only with prior approval from the Director of Nursing.
  • Creates and adjusts nursing schedules as necessary.
  • Communicates updated schedules to relevant staff and displays them in designated areas.
  • Handles requests for shift modifications.
  • Maintains daily sign-in records for nursing assistants.
  • Provides the next day's assignments before the conclusion of each shift.
  • Tracks attendance and tardiness for all nursing personnel.
  • Reviews timekeeping records during each pay cycle.
  • Coordinates necessary corrections to timesheets, with approval from the Director of Nursing, and submits them to payroll.
  • Alerts the Director of Nursing to patterns in timekeeping (early/late arrivals).
  • Maintains an up-to-date nursing roster with current contact information.
  • Ensures nursing staff hold valid certifications and licenses (if a Staff Development Coordinator is not employed).
  • Maintains an in-service training log for nursing staff (if a Staff Development Coordinator is not employed).
  • Participates in in-service education programs to fulfill facility educational requirements.
  • Familiarizes oneself with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plans, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures, and applies this knowledge appropriately.
  • Upholds confidentiality regarding resident and facility records/information.
  • Safeguards residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
  • Protects the personal belongings of residents.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid license in the respective state.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented in job performance.
  • Strong communication skills with a high degree of self-discipline and patience.
  • Genuine compassion for and interest in elderly and disabled individuals in a care setting.
  • Adheres to Residents' Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
  • Completes work tasks within the outlined physical demand requirements.
  • Executes Essential Duties as specified above.

Work Environment:

  • Operates in an office setting as well as throughout the facility.
  • Engages in intermittent movement during work hours.
  • Experiences frequent interruptions.

Required Shifts:
Evening and Night shifts
