Job Overview

Objective:

To efficiently operate testing equipment for the validation and repair of railway machinery, including electronic, computer, electrical, mechanical controllers, and HVAC systems, while complying with production timelines. Execute repairs utilizing both manual and power tools. Engage with a diverse array of high voltage, electronic, computer systems, and mechanical apparatus under the guidance of a technical engineer or supervisor. Conduct both automated and manual assessments on circuit boards, computer systems, HVAC/Galley, and high voltage devices. Adhere to all safety protocols related to electronics, electricity, mechanics, and CFC regulations. Proficiently use MS Office applications, including Access, for report generation and analysis. Employ SAP for task tracking and completion documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow established safety guidelines within the Technical Work Center.
  • Capable of validating and repairing equipment across various sectors in the Technical Work Center.
  • Electronics Sector:
    • Validation, repair, and testing of electronic, electrical, and computer systems.
    • Assemble and repair electronic and computer components: circuit board repair, soldering, wiring, and connectors.
    • Utilize and maintain electronic testing instruments.
  • Electro-mechanical Sector:
    • Validation, repair, and testing of high voltage contactors and switches.
    • Utilize and maintain high voltage AC, DC power supplies, and inverters.
    • Assemble and repair electrical and mechanical systems: wiring, connectors, contractors, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
    • Alignment of mechanical gears and components.
  • HVAC/Galley Sector:
    • Validation, repair, and testing of HVAC and Galley systems.
    • Utilize and maintain CFC portable recovery tools.
    • Assemble and repair HVAC and Galley systems: brazing, soldering, wiring, and connectors.
  • High Voltage Sector:
    • Validation, repair, and testing of power modules.
    • Utilize and maintain high voltage power modules and testing equipment.
    • Assemble and repair electrical and mechanical systems: wiring, connectors, and contractors.
    • Conduct flow testing.
  • Document, save, and analyze failure logs.
  • Assist in creating electronic, electrical, and mechanical schematics and drawings.
  • Work within an ESD-compliant environment.
  • Support the assembly and repair of testing equipment.
  • Utilize compressed air and pneumatic tools safely.
  • Employ precision measuring instruments, including oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and power supplies.
  • Safely operate power tools, including drills, saws, and grinders.
  • Safely use hand tools, including crimpers, strippers, and wrenches.
  • Repair 120/240 VAC systems.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and MS Office, particularly Excel, is essential.
  • Provide guidance to Technical Engineers or Shop Supervisors on daily operations.
  • Assist in training fellow technicians on repairs and data entry processes.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE while performing tasks and educate others on safety standards.

Education Requirements:

Completion of a Vocational/Technical program or equivalent military training in electronic, electro-mechanical, or HVAC/Galley equipment repair.

Experience:

  • Mandatory: Proven experience in electronic, electro-mechanical, and high voltage repair, testing, and validation.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance, safety management systems, HVAC systems, and NFPA70E certification.
