Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, your primary role will involve diagnosing issues, performing preventative upkeep, and executing repairs on all machinery within one of Goodyear's Chemical production facilities. Goodyear Chemical, a sector of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, specializes in the production and distribution of rubber-related chemicals for diverse applications. Your efforts will also focus on fostering a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and cleanliness throughout the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, install, and lubricate industrial mechanical systems, including safety devices
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to establish proper work methods
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery, which includes inspection, lubrication, and alignment tasks
- Reconstruct pumps and various mechanical systems as needed, adhering to standard operating procedures
- Evaluate systems, machines, and other equipment; troubleshoot hydraulic systems effectively
- Utilize precision maintenance tools and techniques such as shaft alignment, belt tensioning, and bearing tolerance adjustments
- Inspect assemblies and installations for compliance with specifications using necessary measuring instruments
- Follow Goodyear's attendance guidelines
- Perform a variety of physical tasks in varying temperatures for extended durations, which may include lifting materials of various weights, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when necessary
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
- Required to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend, and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements
- Willingness to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed
- Basic computer proficiency
- At least 2 years of experience in maintenance roles (Millwright, Machinist, or Hydraulics)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology; Millwright experience is a plus
- AWS, ASME, or API certification in Stick, 2G, 3G & 4G Welding Positions
- Possession of a Journeyman's card
- Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or formal technical training; Millwright experience is advantageous
- Previous military service in a technical role
