JOB SUMMARY:


Under direct supervision, the incumbent performs essential paraprofessional accounting and financial oversight tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, budget tracking, and related general accounting activities.


JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Balances and reconciles financial records, statements, journals, ledgers, or reports.
Collects fees or revenues, processes payments, and posts transactions to the appropriate accounts.
Compiles and maintains comprehensive records and files.
May analyze financial statements to ensure compliance.
May apply GAAP standards and prepare standard accounting reports.
May oversee individual department budgets or expenditures and identify budget discrepancies.
Performs routine accounting, clerical, billing, and/or claims processing tasks for assigned accounts.
Responds to inquiries to resolve routine accounting issues.
Prepares necessary materials for audits of financial data or records.

Processes or records financial transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, invoices, or requisitions in a ledger or computerized system.

Provides information or clarification to third parties such as banks, auditors, vendors, and governmental agencies.
Verifies the accuracy of billing information, tracks account activity, invoices clients, and addresses billing inquiries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in a business-related field from an accredited institution.
OR High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience in accounting and/or financial control functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess two or more of the following:
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials.
Experience in accounts payable and receivable.
Experience in accounting and financial functions.
Experience with State of Georgia accounting processes.
At least two (2) years of experience in creating requisitions and processing purchase orders.
Experience with NICP codes and Team Works.
Eligibility to receive a State Procurement Card and the ability to reconcile P-card statements.
