Under direct supervision, the role involves executing paraprofessional accounting and fiscal oversight tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, budget oversight, and other related general accounting functions.


JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Ensures the accuracy and reconciliation of accounting records, statements, journals, ledgers, or reports.
Collects fees or revenues, processes payments, and accurately posts to designated accounts.
Maintains and organizes records and files.
May analyze financial statements to ensure compliance.
May implement GAAP guidelines and prepare standard accounting reports.
May oversee individual department budgets or expenditures and identify budget discrepancies.
Performs routine accounting, clerical, billing, and/or claims processing tasks for assigned accounts.
Addresses inquiries to resolve standard accounting issues.
Prepares necessary materials for audits of financial data or records.

Records or processes financial transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, invoices, or requisitions in a ledger or computerized system.

Provides information or clarification to external parties such as banks, auditors, vendors, and governmental entities.
Verifies the accuracy of billing information, monitors account activity, bills clients, and resolves billing inquiries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
An Associate degree in a business-related field from an accredited institution.
OR A high school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience in accounting and/or fiscal oversight functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess two or more of the following:
Experience with PeopleSoft Financials.
Experience in accounts payable and receivable.
Experience in accounting and fiscal operations.
Experience with State of Georgia accounting processes.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in creating requisitions and processing purchase orders.
Experience with NICP codes and Team Works.
Eligibility to obtain a State Procurement Card and the ability to reconcile P-card statements.
