Key Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care tailored to departmental needs and aligned with professional standards. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist conducts various diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions while monitoring patients on both invasive and non-invasive ventilation.

Core Duties:

  • Conduct and document thorough patient assessments, including evaluation of breath sounds and airway conditions.
  • Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments.
  • Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and communicate with healthcare providers regarding any necessary interventions.
  • Support the safe transportation of patients requiring ventilatory support.
  • Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and effective ventilation during resuscitation efforts.
Qualifications

Required Credentials:

  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Completion of an accredited two-year respiratory care program (Associate's Degree or equivalent)
  • ACLS certification or instructor status within six months of hire
  • BCLS certification or instructor status within 30 days of hire
  • PALS certification or instructor status within six months of hire
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification within six months of hire
