Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Development Professional - Health & Wellness to join our team at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a variety of health and life skills programs for members of all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Plan and implement a range of health and life skills programs, including Cybersafety, Date SMART, Passport to Manhood, Be a Star, UPS Road Code, SMART Girls, SMART Moves, Street SMART & Triple Play: Healthy Habits
    • Recruit and retain youth for health and life skills programs
    • Work with other staff to implement programs throughout the school year
    • Track and report student data for grant purposes
  • Program Administration
    • Prepare weekly reports for the Program Director/Unit Director regarding activities, special programs, upcoming events, attendance, and other reports as required
    • Maintain a daily written schedule and ensure that programs begin and end on time
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in program areas
    • Maintain the cleanliness of program areas
    • Maintain an inventory of program equipment and supplies in good order
  • Relationships
    • Maintain close, daily contact with club staff and volunteers, club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • Knowledge of youth development
    • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior issues
    • Ability to work with the public
    • Ability to plan and implement quality programs specific to Health & Wellness
    • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
Work Environment

This position generally works Monday - Friday, between the hours of 2PM - 7PM, but may require longer hours outside of this schedule and occasional weekends when necessary. Work is conducted indoors and outdoors.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time; bending and squatting on occasion
  • Ability to lift to 20 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to hear at a normal conversational level
  • Ability to maintain high energy level when necessary
  • High degree of emotional intelligence
