Job Summary

Madison Approach is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controls professional to join our team. As a key member of our accounting group, you will be responsible for executing daily and/or project-related activities supporting our Controller's team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Documentation: Update control or process documentation for the Controller's team using PowerPoint or Excel, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Timeliness and Compliance: Track timeliness and take first pass at updating of financial policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to established deadlines.
  • Financial Dashboards: Develop drillable dashboards to track overdue or outstanding items, and follow-up on overdue items to ensure timely resolution.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with various stakeholders to bring items current, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing mid-year and annual financial reports according to the Governmental accounting standards and other applicable regulatory requirements, including preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Data Analysis: Support collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial and non-financial data for inclusion in external reports.
  • Annual Audit Support: Support the accounting team with annual audit requirements and work with external auditors to meet the annual audit completion deadline.
  • Business Reporting: Accurately analyze and collect data for various types of business reports, providing actionable insights to inform business decisions.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned within the functional area of accounting/reporting and financial controls.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Strong O365 Microsoft Skills, especially Excel, Tableau or Power BI skills preferred.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and project management skills, with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work in teams and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience

3- 5 years of full-time experience in auditing/accounting with bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
